The Young Bruneian ( In The United Kingdom Going Back Home)

For this winter break, some of us decided to go back home. According to our calculations, ticket back to Brunei approximately equal to the price of expenses in London for a month x) Seriously!

Using Royal Brunei Airlines from London to Dubai, it takes about 8 hours and we have transit for about half an hour. It is really sad that we cannot sit together on the plane(totally boring) Now we know that we have to book our seats in advance! After that, we proceed our flight to BRUNEI for another 8 hours~ After Dubai, I really can't sleep because I was so excited.

I'm staying in Brunei from the 9th of December until the 30th of December. Nothing feels better than going back home and spending time with my parents and siblings.(I said, NOTHING!)These three months we only communicate through Skype. Anyway Skype is amazing, communication made easy and cheap ( compare to about 20 years ago when students communicate by mail! )

I spent time playing games and quarelling with my siblings ( Every single day )... On the 14th of December, my friends came over. How nice of them for coming. Thank you guys I am truly delighted. We went to watch The Hobbit and CZ12 at the Times Square cinema some time after that. We had so much fun.

Every weekend is fruit weekend we( my family) went to our fruit island like any other december because fruit season has come!! Durian fever all over again. We don't have to buy these fruits like Rambutan, Durian, Cempedak, Kembayau, Manggis, Pulasan etc because we just have to pull it off from our trees ofcourse! :) Easy? ofcourse not that easy it takes time to cross over the island ( As stated on my previous old post about this island )

TIME FLEW SO FAST. I can't believe i'm going back to UK tomorrow. My parents will be coming along with us but not my siblings. I will miss them so much I can't help but shed a tear. But I do understand that I am sacrificing for the best. There is still Skype, Subhanallah, how technology can really help :')

I hope life & studies will improve next term. Amin. An optimist all the way!

Turn off "adapting" mode and switch on "get on with your life" mode then. So I will be blogging more! =D

Thank You For Reading.

The Young Bruneians ( In The United Kingdom)

Currently 17 and sent abroad to UK to study. ALHAMDULILLAH what a
great opportunity:") ~Won't waste it, I can I can I can do it~ *lets raise one hand up to the sky*

Assalamualaikum, Hello!
Being a seventeen years old living in the UK, away from family is hard but we must be optimistic at all time. This is for the better, InsyaAllah. I am lucky to have my three Bruneian friends in HLC( Harrogate Ladies' College) where we behave like sisters supporting, reminding and helping one another. They are Aliana, Syadirah and a senior, Amal (studying A level) <3<3 We were never lonely.

Bruneian students in the UK are so lucky we're bless. Every holiday, the students can go to london and stay at the Brunei Hall. This is a place for Bruneian students to stay for the holiday. It is only 1.80 pounds per night and they serve Malay food to satisfy cravings. NYUM. My first half term holiday was great. The first day in Brunei Hall was coincidentally the Aidiladha! It feels like in Brunei! People wore Baju Kurung, there were alot of Brunei food and ofcourse that Takbir raya which soothes the heart that hear them :') Nice nice nice!!!

That half term holiday we (me, Aliana, Syadirah ) met my friends and were especially happy to reunite with Khairah and Amrina. Me and my friends went to the Chessington park where we had alot of fun trying different scary rides x(

THE END OF THE SHOW KIDS!    @ CHESSINGTON WORLD OF ADVENTURE RESORT

Sad, the half term were just 10 days. But there are consequences of living in London ( Light wallet at the end of the holiday*tears*). The expenditure were really expensive in London from its transportation to its food(If we missed a meal in Brunei Hall,or still feel hungry). There were alot of tempting things to buy such as clothes and accesories. Everything looks good but as a student.........
                    SAVING IS IMPORTANT!
4 hours of journey back to Harrogate by train. Since we're going north-wards it is always really cold in Harrogate compared to London.BRRRRR~~
Anyway~ Home sweet home.Or should I say, room sweet room?

Back to school!

UNITED KINGDOM ! Husna is here =)

It has been about three months since my last post. These three months I was on 'adapting mode'. I was given a chance to study abroad to the United Kingdom !(THANK YOU BRUNEI!<3<3)

Specifically i'm currently studying and living at Harrogate Ladies' College, Harrogate, North Yorkshire. There were ups and downs as I tried to adapt living on the other side of the world(literally) battling culture shock and the super cold weather. Now i'm in the lower six and going to sit for AS level examination on May 2013.

Undoubtedly, this is an international schools. There are students from ofcourse UK, Hong Kong, China, German, Russia, Czech Republic and many other countries. Oh yeah, first thing I want to explain is the Bruneians white scarf in school, To explain, it's just the thing in Brunei to use white scarf as school uniform and all the flowery and coloured scarf for outside use. hehe! (Just telling~)

This is my first time ever being separated so long & far from my family & I take it as a challenge for self-improvement, self-disciplined & to be more independent!!

I was surprised to know that there are so many school holidays in the UK. These are some of the pictures from my half term holiday on November.

Hari Raya in Brunei (I)

The moon's not sighted in Brunei so Monday's the first Syawal for us. We make use of Sunday's time to bake last minute cake and biscuit, and preparing our living room while listening to some hari raya songs on the radio :) That night I pack my bags for this 30th of August,my departure to United Kingdom:'( Eventhough it's hard to do so, there's nothing that I can do. My things won't pack by itself(I keep on reminding myself)

Monday
First day of Syawal and like every year,we ate special hari raya food like ketupat, rendang and satay which was cooked specially by my mother in the early morning(ofcourse i help to prepare too). We took some family pictures then we visit our grandmothers' houses and some relatives. Hari Raya is always special as it gathers families together and there are lots of good movies on tv!

Ramadhan,Kpg Menengah

15 Ramadhan..Sunny day in Bandar Seri Begawan...
16 Ramadhan Chilly night in Tutong
Its time to break our fast with my bucu(uncle) and my beloved nini. The food are all cooked by mother and packed namely bubur chacha durian, the ever delicious mee goreng(my favourite:d), assorted kuih and some fresh fruits! Ready to surprise my nini with these delicacies!hehe.

Rasulullah saw bersabda: “Puasa itu merupakan perisai yang dapat menghalangi seorang hamba dari panasnya siksa api neraka” (HR. Ahmad).

6.37 The Azan Maghrib prayer on the radio filled the living room. Sungkai ;)

Aleesya here commenting on the food :

Tarawikh prayer.First time this year performing tarawikh at Masjid Kpg Menengah,Tutong which is opposite my nini’s house.Quite breezy outside, perfect for night like this~

Beside me, a little girl, performing tarawikh just like the elders. I was impressed. Between prayers, she smiled and at one time, she asked “siapa nama kaka~”.Cute hospitality?haha. Her name is Wani and here I note it so I won’t forget herJ

Salam Ramadhan

The first few days of Ramadhan is always a tough challenge for muslims worldwide. But it won't take so long for us to get use to it. It's the time of the year to get together with families, friends and get closer to Allah. There are still alot of activities to do,gatherings to attend, packing to be done(for me):)
Salam Ramadhan Al-Mubarak
