Kebun buah-buahan~

This post is about one of our kebun buah. It's just a few sweaty,down-the-hill,across-the-river walks from my grandma's (Nini's)house. We cross the river using our own bamboo bridge. It's scary but it's easy to balance ourself.

MY NINI'S HOUSE AND THE SCARY BRIDGE

This kebun is actually on an island and so we own the whole island. It's surrounded by small river. There are lots of different fruit trees grown here. They are abot 15-20 years old.My parents bought this kebun a few years ago so it have been producing fruits for a long time.My parents are mostly concern of the durian trees here.there are about 5 different kind of durian.Durian otak udang, putih, sukang, simpur and pulu.My personal favourite is simpur. It's very delicious!(nyummmm!:D)Take a look at simpur's tree and fruit.

Asam is also grown here.I'll point this out since its the asam season now.One asam tree can produce thousands of asam fruit. The fruit is red just like cherry. Its use in cooking but before that it needs to undergo several process.Just like raisins, asam needs to be dried out in the sun.But before that,it must be cut in a specific way first.it looks easy but it's quite hard catching the sunlight and avoiding rainwater. Not to forget all those hours sitting and cuttng the asam(ouch!)Fortunately we got workers to do that for us.hehe. These are pictures of asam tree, the fruits and picking it up process.;D

Okay so after cutting it'll look just like this
So i'll skip the drying it up pictures.hehe.The asam can just be sold without drying it though. My nini sell it to people who wants it:) 1packet $1;)
So there are more fruits grown in this kebun.Membangan,Manggis,Rambutan,Petai,Tarap,Cempedak(tibadak),Langsat,Pulasan etc.hehe.They grow according to their seasons.
